HOOD GAUGES AND THERMOSTATS

The hood gauge is your only window into the temperature inside a closed grill, so a failing one leaves you cooking blind. A needle that sticks or a reading that drifts from reality turns roasts and thick cuts into guesswork. We stock replacement gauges, thermometers, and bezels for current and previous generation models, from the Supreme, Lux, Keystone, and Versa series to older Premier and Classic grills. Our parts department has over 10 years of experience matching the right component to the right model, so you can get back to cooking with confidence.

The Benefits of Having the Right Hood Gauge Parts

Good grilling depends on holding a steady temperature, and the hood gauge is how you do it. It tells you when the grill has preheated enough to sear and whether the heat is holding without you lifting the lid and letting it escape. A gauge that reads too low sends you reaching for the knobs and scorching dinner. One that reads too high leaves food undercooked and the cook second-guessing every setting. Replacing a faulty gauge restores the information you need to cook consistently, and it ranks among the quickest and most affordable repairs on any grill.

Fit matters as much as function. Oval and round styles are spread across our product lines and model years, and each comes with its own diameter and mounting. A gauge that doesn’t match your hood opening sits loose or looks out of place, and it won’t hold up to the heat and weather the original handled. We carry model-specific gauges and bezels for current grills alongside parts for older models, so the replacement you receive fits the way the original did. Our parts team can confirm the correct part from your model number before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my hood gauge needs replacing?

Look for a needle that doesn’t move as the grill heats, a reading that stays far below what you’d expect after ten minutes of preheating, moisture or fogging inside the dial, and a cracked lens or bent needle. Keep in mind that a hood gauge measures the air temperature near the top of the hood, so it will read differently than the cooking grates. A gauge that is frozen in place or wildly inconsistent is the one that needs replacing.

How do I find the right gauge for my grill model?

Gauge compatibility depends on your series and production year. The JT-10 gauge fits Lux grills from 2013 to present and Supreme models, with a 3.125-inch diameter. The JT-300 fits the Keystone series, and the JT-12 fits the JVS series. Check your grill’s model number, usually found on a label inside the firebox or on the cart frame, and contact our parts department if you’re unsure.

Are gauges and bezels sold separately?

Yes. The bezel is the trim ring that frames the gauge on the hood, and we sell it separately so you replace only what’s damaged. The JT-11 bezel pairs with the JT-10 gauge on Lux grills from 2013 and newer. The JVS series uses the JT-13 bezel, while the JSS series uses the JT-200.

Can I use a gauge from a different model if it looks similar?

We recommend against it. Diameters, stud lengths, and mounting details vary between models and years, and a gauge that doesn’t seat properly won’t read accurately. The one exception we’ve confirmed is the JT-02 oval thermometer, which can substitute for the JT-05. Contact us to verify compatibility before ordering any other substitution.

Do you carry hood thermometers for older models?

Yes. We stock oval and round thermometers for previous generation grills, including full-size models from 2005, Premier Series grills from 2006 to 2008, Classic Series grills from 2008 to 2009, and the 2009 JPG100. Lux and Versa models from 2012 and older are covered as well. Contact our parts department with your model and production year and we’ll identify the correct part.

How accurate is a hood gauge?

A hood gauge is a reliable guide for managing your grill, and it’s most useful for watching how fast the grill preheats and whether it holds steady. Since it sits in the hood rather than at the grate, it won’t match a probe placed at cooking level. For precise results with larger cuts, pair your hood gauge with a probe thermometer.

Can I install a replacement gauge myself?

In most cases, yes. Let the grill cool completely before you start, then remove the old gauge from its mounting hole and fit the replacement in the same position. The job typically takes a few minutes and basic hand tools. If you’re unsure about the process for your specific model, contact our parts department for guidance before you begin.

What warranty covers replacement hood gauges?

Hood gauges and thermometers carry a 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects under normal use. Review the warranty documentation included with your part for complete details and conditions.
